High 5 on the web

October 23, 2008 – 10:11 pm

Seen as we all know that everything we read on the internet is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, Today I decided see what our friend Google has to say about high 5s, fives, fiving etc

Here’s what I found:

Search term ‘high 5‘:

Google’s favorite high 5 is a high fructose drink formulation?

Well blow me over with nothing more than a blink! Has the big G gone do’la’ly on us?

The url is a UK domain, and with me in blighty that may be swinging its decision, at least hi5.com gets 3rd place! (our high fructose drink formulation friends also own 2nd place in the search results, SERPS for the nerds!)

So, hoping a slight variant would yield better results..

Search term ‘high five‘;

Lol! Funnily enough, our fructose drink formulation friends are the big G’s top 2 in the SERP again! (yup, I’m a nerd!)

This time though, the good old mine of trustworthy and 100% genuine fact (ish!) that is Wikipedia makes an appearance. Heres what they say about high five:

A high five is a celebratory gesture made by two people, each raising one hand to slap the raised hand of the other — usually meant to communicate mutual satisfaction to spectators or to extend congratulations from one person to another. The arms are usually extended into the air to form the “high” part, and the five fingers of each hand meet, making the “five”, thus the name. In addition to the standard high five, several variations exist in order to add uniqueness to the experience and to maximize satisfaction.

“Several variations”! LOADSA VARIATIONS!

Hhhmm …

Search term ‘high fived‘:

Our previous wiki finding is also no 1 here, however, this time the free dictionary is in 2st place with the following definition:

a celebratory or mutually congratulatory gesture between two persons performed by each slapping the other’s raised right hand. Also used as a verb.

Sounds a bit too homework’ish for me!

No 3 was this cool site! Now this is what I call keeping it lit! Great works guys, and huge cyber 5 your way! (wish I invented that!)

These searches appear to return pretty much the same stuff, so lets have another change..

Search term ‘high 5s‘;

WOW! no 1 this time belongs to the world health organization!

The High 5s initiative aims to achieve significant, sustained, and measurable reduction in the occurrence of five patient safety problems over five years in seven countries, and build an international learning network for sharing of knowledge and experiences in implementing standardized operating protocols.

No denying whatever their going on about is a good thing, but common, I wanna see some high five fun! These also hold 2nd place, leaving 3rd to a band, funnily enough called the high fives ! Unfortunatly, the high fives have split up according to their myspace.

Search term ‘hi 5s‘;

No 1 here is nice story from what appears an aussie news site. Not quite the hi 5s I expected, but a nice read all the same!

Just as I am starting to get disheartend with Googles favorites, no 2 in the SERPs for hi 5s goes ahead and lands this beaut’ of video..

Now this is just the stuff I was looking for. Note the use of mexican fives, multi fives, motion fives …. Top job guys, keep the spirit going!

I think I shall leave my searching alone for now, and start to think of how we can make high 5 and all its variants produce only the real thing in the serps.

Get in touch to help ;)

Americans really know how to high 5!

LMAO! While youtubing to keep an eye on the international high 5 movement, I came across what may be the greatest high 5 anthem, EVER!

This is obviously aimed at young kids, but when you hear this song, you will appreciate why its made it to this blog post!!

The lyrics are too catchy, I have a feelin I will be singing “high 5, Low 5, Slap Me 5, Down Low, Too Slow…” all day!

Enjoy, and whatever you do, do not keep this lil’ beauty to yourself!

“..Keep It Cool, Old School!”
